In 2002, their son, David Hancock, joined the family business, bringing new energy and a strong commitment to continuing the company’s tradition of exceptional customer service and dependable support. Following Doris’s passing in 2006, Jean continued to grow Mesmen alongside David. Melissa Hancock later joined the business, helping lead the company’s continued growth and ensuring the next generation of family leadership.
After Jean’s passing in 2018, David and Melissa carried on the family legacy, successfully operating and expanding Mesmen while remaining dedicated to the personalized service, integrity, and expertise that customers had come to expect.
In June 2025, Mesmen experienced the heartbreaking loss of David Hancock. In honor of his legacy and the strong foundation built by Jean, Doris, and David, Melissa Hancock assumed leadership of the company. Today, she proudly continues to lead Mesmen with the same commitment to excellence, customer service, and family values that have defined the business since 1987, while guiding its continued growth and success.

I have a small multi unit building, 4 apartments. Mesmen was very mindful of the commitment I make as a landlord that I include onsite coin laundry room for my tenants as a convenience, so when my dryer broke they set up a service call to see if it could be repaired and kept in touch to see as busy as they are to fit me in for an appointment and they did. The dryer could not reasonably be repaired upon their very transparent inspection, and the company, ADC was purchased by Whirlpool and it was 16 years old. From their service personnel to administrative, Melissa the owner was fantastic to work with. Focused on me understanding, answering questions, an exceptional professional, friendly, relaxed rapport. No upselling, they have integrity and it was a mutually beneficial solution, and economic the cost of them getting us a great deal on new stackable dryers and installation.
